Been around the world but there’s no place like home.

My name is Rebecca O’Connor, and I am the Senior Recruiter here at EASCA Group. I hold a BA degree in English and History from NUIG. After spending some time living in the UAE and Canada, I returned home at the height of the COVID 19 Pandemic.

I joined EASCA in August 2021 and within 3 months got promoted to Senior Recruiter.

To be brutally honest, I fell into recruitment back in 2018 when a friend of mine referred me for a role in a boutique recruitment agency in Vancouver, Canada. I had never intended to work as a recruiter as it was never a career that crossed my mind, I suppose I didn’t know many Recruiters at that time. Now, I know too many recruiters!!

Needless to say, I fell head over heels with all things recruitment and here I am 3 and a half years later still madly in love with recruitment.

I am a very social and chatty person, so talking to people for a living comes naturally to me. I think of Recruitment like a puzzle, my client is missing a “puzzle piece” and my job is to help complete their puzzle.

I get a great buzz when I chat to candidate and clients, but the best high definitely comes from telling a candidate that they landed the job they worked so hard to get. Don’t get me wrong there are days when its tough going but the highs definitely outweigh the lows. Sure, it’s the same in every job.

I have recruited for many different industries throughout my recruitment career, from high volume customer service roles to Medical Device recruitment and most recently Construction with companies based in Canada and also here at home.

EASCA are an extremely successful Electrical and Mechanical labour supply company, who saw a gap in the market to also provide their existing clients with a White Collar recruitment service. I sit on the White-Collar Recruitment side of the business; however, I work in tandem with the Labour Supply Team. I get to work with some of the largest Construction Companies in Ireland and Europe which is amazing.

All members of the EASCA Team are extremely motivated and dedicated to the success of both the Labour Supply side of the business as well as the White Collar side. As I mentioned earlier, I have worked for various recruitment agencies, but I can honestly say I have never worked for a more supportive, more collaborative company like EASCA.  I can tell you now, I don’t suffer from the dreaded Sunday Scaries. I enjoy every minute of my working day, which I think is rare to say.

What motivates me I hear you say? I am motivated by the team around me, I learn so much from every single team member every day and I am motivated by my client’s success.

The two directors, Gary and Simon have given me fantastic support since I joined in August, and the trust they have in me to help make their White Collar Recruitment venture a success has been incredible. And I have no doubt that we will be very successful.  The whole team have been so welcoming and inclusive since the very first day.

I see how hard everyone works here and that drives me to be the best possible recruiter I could be. Don’t get me wrong, I am good at my job but there is always room for improvement.

When I am not recruiting, you can find me supporting the Kilconieron Camogie and Hurling teams, walking my dog Lola, binge watching TV shows on Netflix, spending too much money on all things makeup related and spending time with my fiancé (when he isn’t in Paris!) and family.
