Project Quantity Surveyor

Our client who are one of Ireland’s Leading Engineering Consultancy’s are currently looking to recruit an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience, preferably with a Consultancy background. This individual will assist the QS team on all costs relating to civil and building aspects of various projects including mixed commercial, industrial, educational and residential from the initial concept design stage estimate to the final account settlement.  The candidate must demonstrate the ability to optimise the cost of projects, implement value engineering and ensure value for money, while achieving the required standards and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of cost estimates throughout the various stages of the pre-tender and design phases.
  • Preparation of Tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Advise the Client on different types of procurement strategies.
  • Implement Value Engineering opportunities, managing VE opportunities.
  • Assist in establishing client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies of design options.
  • You must perform cost control and risk and value management.
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks.
  • Contract administration
  • Analysis and preparation of tender costings.
  • Assist the QS Team in providing advice on any contractual issues.
  • Manage the change order process.
  • Value and approve completed work and certifying payments to contractors and consultants.
  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
  • Must have an excellent understanding of the implications of health and safety regulations.
  • Assist the QS Team in managing and agreeing the final accounts for all projects.

Requirements:

  • A minimum requirement of a BSc Level 8 Degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • A Minimum of 3+ years post-graduate experience within a Consultancy practice is preferable.
  • The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of Excel, Buildsoft and Cubit.
  • A strong attention to detail is necessary, including good presentation and writing skills.
  • Excellent construction knowledge and experience in Building and Civil Works Projects is required.
  • Firm understanding and working experience of Contracts and Procurement methods including GCCC Contracts.
